Petrie Technologies Limited specialises in the application of Advanced Heating Technology
– principally Microwave and Radio Frequency – for a broad range of industries.


Our application of heating technology is mainly via two routes:

  • Standard products designed and developed within Petrie to suit a wide range of industrial applications

  • Bespoke solutions designed and developed specifically to suit our customer's requirements, but incorporating major elements of our technology portfolio and intellectual property.

Petrie Technologies Limited has enjoyed a long and colourful history, dating back to the early 1800's, always based within the North West of England. Since 1995, Petrie has been located in modern premises in Chorley and benefits significantly from the ability to share resources with our sister company, NIS Limited.

How we work

We realise that our standard range of products will not suit all customer applications and that there is often a need to work very closely with our clients in order to develop a solution that is often bespoke in nature, despite drawing heavily on previously developed intellectual property owned by both Petrie and our clients. To facilitate this and to encourage innovative development of the solution, we often follow a ‘stage gate’ process that encourages lateral thinking but also includes critical hold/review points that ensure that costs are controlled.

All of our collaborative development projects are conducted under strict confidentiality agreements. We understand that the use of our customers intellectual property in these types of project is often critical to the overall success and so our respect for its use is paramount to us.
